What defines the Germany → France corridor
This is our oldest and busiest route: most rotations start in North Rhine-Westphalia heading for the Paris region, the Lyon area and Grand Est. Collections happen at dealerships as well as remarketing platforms and German auction sites. This is, first and foremost, vehicle transport between businesses — dealerships, traders, rental companies and import agents.
The trip runs with no intermediate storage and no Swiss transit: we stay on the German then French motorway network, which avoids the LSVA and Alpine transit constraints. On cost, the German Maut applies at €0.187 to €0.473 per km depending on emission class and axle count — it is built into the quote, never invoiced on top.
For a whole truck, allow on average 1 to 2 working days in transit after loading, and 3 to 4 days between quote confirmation and collection. Our team is natively French-German: dealings with the German seller happen in German, and HTL remains the contractual carrier, CMR-covered.
Contractual carrier, not a broker
47 trucks run on our planning every day with our certified partners: on every consignment HTL remains the contractual carrier, liable under CMR, including when a partner drives. Five of them are car carriers of our own, owned since 2014. A broker introduces you, hands the transport to a third party and steps out of the contract — you no longer know who answers.

Car transport Germany → France: what actually sets the price
There is no honest per-kilometre rate on this route, and be wary of anyone quoting you one. The cost of a trip is the truck, the driver, the diesel and the tolls, and it barely changes with what sits on top. The price per car is that cost divided by the number of vehicles loaded — that is where everything is decided.
In practice our car carrier holds 9 slots, and a vehicle’s overall size — height, length and width together — decides: the upper deck is limited to around 1,750 mm. A Polo takes 1 slot in 9, a Golf 1 in 9, an ID.4 1 in 7, a Passat Variant 1 in 6, an ID.Buzz only 1 in 4. A single car on a dedicated truck is the most expensive case there is; the same car on a fully booked truck costs a fraction of that.
Four levers bring your unit cost down, and all of them are yours: consolidate several vehicles on the same route, mix the sizes (city cars fill the upper deck and lighten the whole load), stay flexible on the date so we can place you on a trip already running, and give us the models, not just the count — 6 Polos and 6 Touaregs do not fill the same truck. A fifth matters on this route: the direction of the flow. More vehicles travel from Germany to France than the other way round, and a load moving with the dominant flow slots more easily onto a trip already running — and so more cheaply — than a single collection against the flow.

Within the EU, no customs formalities. Prepare the registration certificate, a proof of ownership or invoice if applicable, and the contact details for pick-up and delivery. A CMR consignment note and a condition report are issued at collection.
Yes. At loading you receive a written confirmation and a tracking link for your shipment, with no account and no password: it places the truck within an approach zone of about 10 km and shows the kilometres left. If you would rather just ask, your contact will give you the position and the estimated delivery.
