Denmark: a market apart, now overwhelmingly electric

Denmark is Europe’s most advanced EV market: battery-electric vehicles reached 80% of registrations over the first five months of 2026. That changes the shape of used-vehicle flows between the two countries.

Transport runs through Jutland by road, with no compulsory ferry crossing. Since January 2025 Denmark has applied the GNSS-based KmToll distance charge for heavy goods vehicles — it is included in the quote.

We regularly move electric vehicles on this corridor: they travel on open car carriers like any other, with strapping adapted to their weight and specific lashing points.

Denmark → Germany car transport: how the price is built

What gets counted here is not kilometres but crossings: the Danish distance charge runs on the truck, never on its load, and the Great Belt is paid per crossing, not per car. Truck, driver, diesel and the German Maut have to be paid for the same way, whether the deck is fully loaded or carries a single vehicle. The price per car is that trip cost divided by the number of units loaded — that is the whole of it.

And what leaves Denmark looks like the Danish market: overwhelmingly electric, therefore tall. Height allocates the places, never length, the upper deck stopping at around 1,750 mm. Of the deck’s 10 slots, a Polo takes 1 in 10, a Golf 1 in 9, an ID.4 1 in 7, a Passat Variant 1 in 6, an ID.Buzz 1 in 4: one ID.Buzz therefore costs two and a half city cars, an ID.4 one and a half.

A batch of tall electrics leaves the upper deck unused; slipping two or three city cars in up there costs the truck almost nothing extra and pulls the average price per car down. The date matters even more here. Loaded traffic runs north into Denmark, so a southbound load often meets a truck that has to come back anyway. Accepting collection within a few days either way is usually enough to ride that return.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about transport Denmark - Germany

Expect around 8h00 of driving on average. The overall time between pick-up and delivery depends on loading points, truck fill rate and delivery windows.

The cost of a trip is the truck, the driver, the diesel and the tolls (around 700 km on this route) and it barely changes with what is loaded. The price per car is that cost divided by the number of vehicles on board. Our carrier is worth 10 slots and height decides, not length: a Polo takes 1 slot in 10, an ID.4 1 in 7, an ID.Buzz 1 in 4. A single car on a dedicated truck is therefore the most expensive case; the same car in a full load costs a fraction. To bring the price down: consolidate several vehicles, mix the sizes, stay flexible on the date, and give the models rather than just the count. Firm quote within 2 working hours, no commitment.

Within the EU, no customs formalities. Prepare the registration certificate, a proof of ownership or invoice if applicable, and the contact details for pick-up and delivery. A CMR consignment note and a condition report are issued at collection.

You keep a responsive contact throughout the transport and an update on your vehicle’s position until delivery.

Yes. Your vehicles are covered by our insurance throughout the transport; the coverage details are specified in your quote.
