Randstad–Rhineland: our shortest corridor
From Rotterdam, Amsterdam or Utrecht into the Rhineland, expect 200 to 400 km. It is one of our most direct routes, usually with no intermediate handling, and often deliverable the day after loading.
Volumes come from the Dutch import ports — one of Europe’s main entry points for new vehicles — and from the used-car market between the two countries.
On a corridor this short and this busy, consolidation is what counts: the cost per vehicle drops sharply when several units travel on the same truck.
Contractual carrier, not a broker
47 trucks run on our planning every day with our certified partners: on every consignment HTL remains the contractual carrier, liable under CMR, including when a partner drives. Five of them are car carriers of our own, owned since 2014. A broker introduces you, hands the transport to a third party and steps out of the contract — you no longer know who answers.

Car transport Netherlands → Germany: how the price is really built
Over 200 to 400 km a per-kilometre rate describes nothing: a Randstad-Rhineland job is spent mostly off the motorway, on compound slots, condition checks and ramp manoeuvring. The unit we price is the trip: the truck rolls out, the driver drives, the tolls run, whether the deck is full or not. The price per vehicle is that trip cost divided by the units actually loaded — a half-loaded truck costs almost as much as a full one.
What fills the truck here is rooflines, not headcount. Our decks hold 9 slots and the upper one stops at around 1,750 mm: above that a vehicle stays below and costs a slot more. A Polo takes 1 slot in 9, a Golf 1 in 9, an ID.4 1 in 7, a Passat Variant 1 in 6, an ID.Buzz 1 in 4. Loads coming out of the Dutch ports are often tall bodies — electric vans and SUVs: four ID.Buzz fill the truck on their own.
Four things work in your favour at enquiry stage: group the vehicles on one route, mix the sizes so city cars take the upper deck, open the date by a few days, and give the exact models rather than a count. The corridor is short and busy for us, so space on a trip already running comes up often. The Netherlands also applies a heavy-vehicle road charge (vrachtwagenheffing), alongside the German Maut from the border onwards — both are already in the quote.

Within the EU, no customs formalities. Prepare the registration certificate, a proof of ownership or invoice if applicable, and the contact details for pick-up and delivery. A CMR consignment note and a condition report are issued at collection.
Yes. At loading you receive a written confirmation and a tracking link for your shipment, with no account and no password: it places the truck within an approach zone of about 10 km and shows the kilometres left. If you would rather just ask, your contact will give you the position and the estimated delivery.
Yes. Your vehicles are covered by our insurance throughout the transport; the coverage details are specified in your quote.
Not ourselves: your vehicles travel on the carrier, without a single kilometre added to the odometer. We still take driven-delivery requests: a partner provider then drives the vehicle. Just mention it in your quote request or message.
